The Bank's management comprises of highly skilled and experienced personnel. The Bank has continued with aggressive capacity building through staff training and development programmes. The first critical success factor of the bank is about an organization culture that values people, enhances performance and supports the business. This is grounded on seven core values namely Professionalism, Integrity, Creativity, Teamwork, Unity of Purpose, Respect and Dignity for Customers and Effective Corporate Governance.
A lot of emphasis is laid on developing leadership capabilities at all levels of the organization by sponsorships to some of the worlds leading programmes. These include Harvard Business School, Wharton Business School, Strathmore Business School, Bolder Microfinance Leadership Programme and Ireland Development Institute among others.

The leadership team of the Bank consists of the following persons:-

	Dr.James Mwangi, MBS Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director James holds an Honorary Doctorate in Business Administration (Honoris Causa), from Kenya Methodist University, Doctor of Humane Letters (Honoris Causa) Kenyatta University, and Doctor of Entrepreneuship from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. He is also the holder of a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Accounting Option) from the University of Nairobi and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA (K). Dr. Mwangi is a graduate of Advanced Management Programme (Strathmore- IESE Business School, Barcelona Spain).He is currently the Chairman of Kenya's Vision 2030 Delivery Board and serves on several international bodies as an advisor on inclusive finance. James has wide experience in the banking industry.
		Gerald Warui, Director of Operations & Customer Service Gerald is a Certified Public Accountant (Kenya) and a graduate of Advanced Management Programme (Strathmore-IESE Business School, Barcelona Spain). He has more than 15 years of working experience in the banking sector having previously worked with Fidelity Bank. Gerald has worked for 12 years at Equity Bank.
		Mary Wamae, Director of Corporate Strategy & Company Secretary Mary holds a LLB degree from the University of Nairobi, a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law and she is a Certified Public Secretary (Kenya). She is a graduate of Advanced Management Programme (Strathmore -IESE Business School, Barcelona Spain). She is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Gender and Development. Mary has over 13 years of legal private practice experience.
	Mbaabu Muchiri, Director of Credit Mbaabu holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the United States International University(USIU), a Bachelor of Education degree and is a Certified Public Accountant (Kenya), a Certified Public Secretary (Kenya) and a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). He is a graduate of Advanced Management Programme (Strathmore - IESE Business School, Barcelona Spain). He has over 18 years of management experience having previously worked with Central Bank of Kenya and Coca-Cola Africa. Mbaabu joined Equity Bank in 2004.
		Michael Wachira, Director of Treasury, Trade Finance and Marketing Michael holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Buckingham (UK) and Master of Science in Investment Management from City University's Cass Business School (UK). Michael worked in Brussels, Belgium for the Fortis Bank group (Fortis Bank and Belgolaise Bank). Prior to joining the Fortis Group in 2000, Michael was an Emerging Markets Proprietary Trader focusing on the Middle East and Africa for Cargill Financial Markets based in the London and Istanbul. Michael joined the Equity Bank in 2009.
		John Staley, Director, Finance and Shared Services John has a Masters of Science in Applied and Computational Mathematics from the University of the Witwatersrand and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Natal. He also obtained a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from the University of South Africa before qualifying as a Chartered Accountant (SA) in 1996. He has a wide range of experience in both finance and ICT, but has focused mainly on implementing cost effective ICT solutions in companies. He was the CEO of Credit Indemnity (Pty) Ltd and worked with Equity Bank in 2003. John joined Equity Bank again at the start of 2009.
	Allan Waititu, Director of IT and Projects Allan is a Certified Systems Engineer, a Novell Certified Network Engineer and a graduate of Advanced Management Programme (Strathmore-IESE Business School, Barcelona Spain). He has over 20 years experience in the information technology and banking industry and was previously General Manager of Operations. Allan joined Equity Bank in 2004.
		Dr. Catherine Munene, General Manager - Human Resources Catherine received her PhD from Edith Cowan University, Australia having majored in adoption and evaluation of self service technologies. She also holds a Masters of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Commerce degree. She joins Equity Bank from Kenya Airways. Prior to joining Kenya Airways, she was an Assistant Professor of Marketing at USIU. She also lectured at AUSI College and Edith Cowan University in Perth, Western Australia. Catherine joined Equity Bank in 2009.
		Samuel Makome, General Manager - Risk Samuel Makome holds a Bachelor of Science (Engineering) Degree from the University of Nairobi and is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (London). He has over 17 years experience in Retail Banking, Operations and Risk Management and has worked with major local and international banks including Citibank N.A and Kenya Commercial Bank. He was previously Regional Head of Consumer Banking Operations with Standard Chartered Bank, Africa, and he was an Executive Director with Bank of Africa, Uganda. Samuel joined Equity Bank in 2009.
		Bildard Fwamba, General Manager - Finance Bildard holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) degree from Kenyatta University and is a Certified Public Accountant (Kenya). He has over 12 years experience in audit having previously worked with Central Bank of Kenya and British American Insurance Company (K) Ltd. Bildard joined Equity Bank in 2004.
		Geoffrey Ndambuki, General Manager : Marketing - Corporate and Institutional Banking Geoffrey holds a Masters of Business Administration from University of Bombay, India and a Diploma in Marketing from the Kenya Institute of Management. He has more than twenty years experience in the Banking Industry. Prior to joining Equity Bank Kenya he was the Director of Corporate, Government and Institutional Banking at Co-operative Bank of Kenya. Geoffrey joined Equity Bank in 2010
		Fredrick O. Nyasaka Internal Audit Manager Fredrick holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Accounting) degree from Maseno University and is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA). He is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). He is a Certified IIA Instructor and serves as a member of the IIA Training Committee since 2006. He has 6 years experience in Internal Auditing. He started his career in Equity Building Society in 2004 before moving on to K-Rep Bank and NIC Bank. He rejoined Equity Bank in 2008.
		Hilda Mugo, General Manager - Operations Hildah holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Entrepreneurship) Degree from Kenya Methodist University and is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers. She is a graduate of Advanced Management Programme (Strathmore-IESE Business School, Barcelona Spain). She has over 17 years of Banking experience in Operations, Compliance, Marketing, Customer service and Consumer Banking having worked with Barclays Bank Kenya. Hildah joined Equity Bank in 2004.
		Esther Muiruri, General Manager - Marketing, Agribusiness Esther holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Business Administration) from the University of Nairobi. She was trained in management of Rural Credit and Finance at ARMTI Nigeria. Before joining Equity Bank, she worked in various positions in the management of agriculture projects under the Ministry of Cooperative Development and Marketing. Esther joined Equity Bank in 2004.
		Elizabeth Gathai, General Manager - Credit Elizabeth holds a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Nairobi, Bachelor of Commerce degree in finance, and a Certified Public Accountant CPA (K). She is a graduate of Advanced Management Programme (Strathmore- IESE Business School, Barcelona Spain) and Management Executive Programme (Maastricht School of Management (MSM)-Netherlands). She has over 9 years of banking experience. Elizabeth joined Equity Bank in 2001.
		James Kaburu, General Manager - Shared Services James holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting ) degree from University of Nairobi. He is Certified Public Accountant of Kenya. He has over 15 years of working experience in the Banking Sector. James worked with Standard Chartered Bank Kenya under various capacities, the last one being Head of Technology and Service Delivery and he worked with Central Bank of Kenya of Kenya in their Bank Supervision Department. James has also worked in Uganda as Head of Operations for Nile, Barclays and Orient Banks. Prior to joining Equity Bank, James was working with Intermarket Banking Corporation in Zambia as the Chief Operations Officer. James joined Equity Bank in 2009.
		Major Marcus Mutua, Head of Security and Administration Major Mutua holds advanced diplomas and certification in security Intelligence from Israel, U.S.A. and U.K. He has more than 20 years experience in military intelligence and security management. Major Mutua joined Equity Bank in 2004.
		Lydiah Kiburu, Head of Communications Lydiah holds a Masters degree in International Development and Diplomacy from the University of Nairobi. She also holds post graduate qualifications in Marketing, Business Management and Mass Communication. She is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Communications for Development Studies. She previously worked with the Africa Regional Office of the World Organization of the Scout Movement as Director of Communications, and Acting Regional Director for the Africa Region. Ms. Kiburu, joined the Bank in 2007.
